The Sports Widow's Questions for Michael Phelps

After spending the entire day at Water Country USA, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, it's only fitting that we concluded the day at my brother Jeff's condo in Virginia Beach unwinding to The Beijing Olympics Men's Swimming Finals. As far as I'm concerned, every night has been the Michael Phelp's show. That guy has got to be an automaton.
If I ever get the opportunity to interview him, I plan to ask for the answers to some eternal swimming-related questions:
How can I keep my goggles from fogging up?
Why the obsession with not hanging on the ropes? (I can't tell you how many times lifeguards and swim personnel have barked at my children and others about this subject.)
Why do they skip the sidestroke and elementary backstroke in these competitions?
Who decided that tapping the foot was the appropriate way to signal to slower swimmers that the faster swimmer in their lane is passing them? (The first time this happened to me I was unaware of this etiquette and became furious at this guy for his constant foot tapping. I'm sure, since I have no delusions of athletic grandeur, that I was in the intermediate lane at most, so that scoundrel should have just moved to the faster lane, but no, he had to keep tapping me...showoff...
How can I get away with packing in 12,000 calories a day?
