Mourning the Green Bay Packers and Pondering Men are from Mars, Widows are from Venus

So, yesterday's game was an abject disappointment for my kindred Cheeseheads. In their dreams they hoped for a dramatic repeat of the legendary Ice Bowl. Since this Green Bay Packers vs. The New York Giants game was the third coldest played in NFL history (the first being the Ice Bowl), the stars should have been aligned.
I wasn't quite as enthusiastic about this hosting opportunity, so I offered a medley of cheeses, crackers and low-impact culinary selections that still saluted my Cheesehead roots and paid tribute to the nickname my kids have given me: The Dairy Queen. Since I'm a fairweather Cheesehead, I woke up feeling pretty chipper this morning, but the disappointment lingers for fans like my friend Keith, who incidentally was interviewed with his wife Melinda on our pilot radio show. To find out how Keith felt before the game, check out his essay under the Football section. I am anxious to hear about his recovery.
Fleeced By a Young Sports Fan
I recently took my 10-year-old fan Austin on a 1.5-mile trek to JoAnn's fabric store so that I could pick up some maroon thread to sew on a button. Mind you, unlike Keith's traumatic childhood experience, I did not hold him hostage to a mindless errand during an important game. I do have a soul. I just figured Austin was a safe companion and that I wouldn't get any add-ons from him. But wouldn't you know it? Austin made a beeline for the only object in a fabric store in which a young sports fan would have an interest: NFL Team fleece. Austin must be prescient, because he selected three yards of New England Patriot fleece and has asked his seamstress Grandmother Dorothy to make a blanket for him out of the material.
So, there's no doubt about who Austin will be rooting for during the Super Bowl. I'll have to ask Keith, what his #2 choice is...
If your fan has a love story about his/her sport, interview him/her and share it with us. Thanks, Keith for giving us (Sports Widows) some insight into the heart of a fan.
