The Sports Test, Quoth the Raven and Other Baltimore Stories

It was our last full day on the East Coast and 10-year-old Austin had to see The National Aquarium in Baltimore. When he is not planning to be a baseball or basketball player, his goal is to be a wildlife photographer or to host a wildlife show, a la Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter.
As we enter the city, my mind naturally turns to movies, since I am a movie lover and have belonged to a Movie Club for 16 years. Baltimore was the setting for several great movies, including And Justice For All (1979), Diner (1982) and Tin Men (1987), all Barry Levinson films. In my Sports Widow Radio Show I talk about how my sports fan husband Bryan actually considered giving me a sports test that was similar to the one administered in Diner prior to committing to marrying me. Smart man that Bryan was, however, he realized that I would flunk, so he gave me a pass.
A few other interesting points about Baltimore are that they have The Baltimore Orioles, which I'm familiar with, AND The Baltimore Ravens, which until now I never even knew existed. This is their pro football team, which references Edgar Allen Poe's famous poem. How poetic, how lyrical. Bryan says they're a young franchise, but they even won The Super Bowl in 2001. This is proof that I can't ever remember who won The Super Bowl, no matter how hard I try.
Anyway, we wrapped up our National Aquarium experience at the ESPN outdoor bar adjacent to the aquarium. We had to do something to wait out the weekend traffic. Milwaukee girl that I am, I tried for the first time a Yuengling beer, which I had never heard of. Sounds like an offering at The Beijing Olympics, but it's apparently brewed by the oldest brewery in America.
Well, time to pack. We head home to Seattle tomorrow.
